New Hair-Do Part 2

This evening I found a very odd looking monkey in Caden's room along with a very odd pile of brown fuzz. Apparently Caden not only gave himself a trim the other day, he decided his monkey needed one as well. See the pictures below:

So, obviously every pair of scissors has been hid! :)

The countdown has begun...

School starts in 4 weeks! Caden is very excited. Cody seems excited, but not too much... because you know, it wouldn't be cool to be excited about school starting! Mike and I have Parent Fish Camp next Monday evening and Cody has his Fish Camp (it's really called "Fish Camp") next Thursday at the school. I guess high school is inevitable. I can't stop Cody from growing up. I feel like there is this giant countdown clock that is fixing to start... "You now have 4 years left with your son before he leaves home for college"...tick...tick...tick. I hope I can stop focusing on the next 4 years and just cherish each day with Cody. I can't even think about Caden starting school or the tears will really start falling. How am I going to get through these next few weeks? :)

New Hair-Do

Caden decided he needed a new hair style, so he took matters into his own hands... literally, with a pair of scissors. The funny thing is that I just found out about it this morning. Since late yesterday, he has been wearing a hat non-stop. I thought it was a little odd when we laid down for a nap, he wouldn't take his baseball hat off. I thought it was really odd when he went to bed last night wearing the same cap. But this morning he forgot his cap and his new hairstyle was revealed to me. I had him come close to me and I ran my fingers through his hair to make sure what I was seeing was really true. He suddenly remembered he didn't have on a hat! I asked him what happened and he said, "I cut my hair". I asked why and his response, "because I wanted to". Makes sense. He's been wanting a buzz hair cut for the longest time, so I guess this was his way of making sure he got one! Sure enough we had to get a very short haircut to even things up. Caden sat in the stylist's chair with the biggest grin on his face the whole time! What a stinker this little one is! I didn't take a before picture (I should have, it was priceless!) but here's an after:

Mini-Vacation

We are home after a whirlwind trip to Era, Fort Worth, North Richland Hills, Arlington, a tour through Dallas, Plano, back to Era, and then home in 4 days!
Cody, Caden, Chase (a friend of Cody's), and I left Tuesday morning for a mini-vacation. Mike was busy doing what he seems to always be doing these days... working. He couldn't take a few days off to come with us, so I braved the unknown and took off on an adventure with 2 teenage boys and a 6 year old! We stopped at my grandparents for a great hamburger dinner (thanks Granny!) and a quick visit. We left their house headed for Fort Worth to spend a lovely 2 nights at a local hotel. Did I mention that I had 2 teenage boys with me? I think we finally got to bed around 11:30 that night!

Wednesday, Cody and Chase played in a NTPGA Junior golf tournament at North Richland Hills Iron Horse Golf Course. My grandparents drove in to watch Cody play. (By the way, they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary by watching Cody play a round of golf... thanks Granny and Papa for spending your special day with us... we are so glad you were able to see Cody play!). Cody didn't play so well, he tied for 19th. Chase played a little better, he finished 6th.
What do you see in this picture (above)?

After a long round of golf, the kids and I headed over to NRH2O water park. What a cool place this is! The kids had the best time. It really is a neat park, lots of activities and very family friendly. Caden loved it!

Thursday we headed over to Six Flags. It was miserable! We were drenched in sweat just walking from our car to the main gate! It was only 10:15 in the morning!!! The kids had a lot of fun, even through the heat and humidity. But by 5:00, they were ready to go.

Some how these 3 boys managed to convince me to drive them to Plano during 5:00 traffic to go to a PGA Tour Superstore after Six Flags! That was a mistake! But for 3 boys who love to golf... this place was a dream come true!

We headed back to Era for a night's stay at my grandparents and then home this afternoon. It feels so good to be back home, even though I have to work tomorrow! Oh well. It was a great mini-vacation!

No longer missing!

Boomer has been found. A lovely family a few blocks away called this morning letting us know that they may have found our dog. Caden and I loaded up and went over there and sure enough... it was Boomer. Caden was so excited to see his long lost friend. They are out in the backyard playing right now! :)

Still Missing

Boomer is still missing. I had really hoped that we would find him at the shelter yesterday since they had been closed for the holiday weekend. No such luck. Caden seems to be handling it better each day. It's still hard when he goes out to the back yard to play and his friend isn't there.
Hopefully Boomer is safe. Maybe we will still find him.

Sad day

Earlier today we discovered that our dog, Boomer was missing. Somehow he managed to escape from our yard. We made our way through the neighborhood searching for him, but never found him. We went out to the pound this morning and again this evening, but no luck there. Caden is having a hard time this evening. It's hard to sit and wonder all the what-ifs. Hopefully Boomer is safe. Hopefully we will have him home soon.
