Women's Revenge
WOMEN'S REVENGE
"Cash, check or charge?" I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase.
As she fumbled for her wallet, I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse.
"So, do you always carry your TV remote?" I asked.
"No," she replied, "but my husband refused to come shopping with me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally."

Naked apples
Me: What?
Cade: I WANT a naked apple.
Me: Show me what you want.
Cade: Goes to the fridge, takes out an apple and tells me, "I want all this yucky stuff off", pointing to the peel.
Me: You want a peeled apple?
Cade: Yes.
Glad we got that straightened out.

5 years old and so brave!!

It is amazing how turning from 4 to 5 will make a child so much more braver! Case in point.... Caden decided that today would be the day that he would get serious about learning to ride his bike without training wheels! I took his training wheels off his bike months ago, but he just never got interested in trying to ride his bike without the safety net of the training wheels!
Happy Birthday Caden
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Caden
How I love YOU!
My baby is 5 today! Can you believe how fast time has flown by....because I can't! It seems like yesterday that he was just a baby!

Hallelujah, Paris is Free
Can't wait to see the news story line up tonight. Where will the major news shows place the Paris Hilton story.... before or after a story about the war? Ugh.
(That's my ranting for today!)

First memory: Tipping over my brother's baby bassinet.... with him in it! I remember that I ran and hid behind the couch afterwards. Falling out of the bassinet may explain a few things about my brother....no, I am just kidding!
First real kiss: (my parents are reading this!) Michael Park in the back seat of Kendall Blythe's car!
First concert: Marty Stewart, maybe? I remember going to his autograph party at Boots-n-Jeans before the concert and really thinking to myself that he had to have stuffed the back (butt) of his jeans!
First love: Tyson Teuton, 5th grade
First thing you think in the morning: Mike...turn off your stupid alarm! Then I shove him to make sure he wakes up enough to turn it off!
First book you remember loving: I can't remember. I know I loved reading as a child, so I am sure there was a favorite.
First pet: I think it was a pug named Bandit. I remember our German Shepard, Duke. He was a such a good dog who loved it when I blew bubbles!
First question you'll ask in Heaven: Why couldn't I have had curly hair!
First thing you think of when you hear the word 'vacation': Oh, how I really want one right about now.
First best friend: I know I had one in the 3rd grade in Hobbs NM, but I can't remember her name. After we moved to Amarillo...Monica Caudle.
Last time you dressed up: Really dressed up? Probably for my job interview a few weeks ago.
Last thing you ate: Dried pineapple slices
Last CD you bought: Dixie Chicks Taking the Long Way (Yes, I am still a Chicks Fan.)
Last (good) book you read: A Bend in the Road, Nicholas Sparks
Last time you cried: Saturday night after waking from a horrible nightmare.
Last time you told someone you loved them: Earlier today when talking with Mike.
Last really funny thing you did: I was playing with Caden earlier making silly faces. I guess I was pretty funny to him. Anyone else would have thought I was losing my mind!
Last thing you watched on TV: Wife Swap, and then Mike came home and changed it to The Golf Channel. Yeah.
Last Halloween costume: I have no idea!
Last concert attended: Cody's 5th grade orchestra concert!

We're home!

Caden also had a good time "exploring". I think he found the world's largest dandelion!

* A back flop!
* Best friends (for the moment!)
* A belly flop!
Here are a couple of videos of Caden. These were recorded on my digital camera, so the video is very "grainy".
There are 2 videos. One will automatically load and it is Caden's back flip. Then, click on "next" on the right side of the screen to see his front flip!

He totally surprised me with these new "tricks" he has learned! He has no fear of the water, which can be a good thing, and a bad thing!
We woke up the next morning and finished our trip to my parent's. It was nice to break up the trip. (Today's drive ended up being close to 10 hours! I think from now on, I will break up the trip both ways. It is too hard on the kids and on me!)
On Thursday my parents and I drove into Little Rock and went to the Arkansas Museum of Discovery (http://www.amod.org/). It is similar to Amarillo's Discovery Center, only much bigger! There we watched Tom Noddy perform some amazing bubble tricks! He was really entertaining and could blow the most amazing bubbles.

* Caterpillar bubble
* Longer Caterpillar bubble

* Tornado in a bubble
* A BIG bubble!Afterwards, Cody and Caden had some fun playing with the exhibits.

Of course our trip wouldn't be complete without a little golf! We found a driving range about 15 minutes from my parents that the boys went to a couple of times.

On Saturday we all drove to Heber Springs and went to Lindsey's Resort (http://www.lindseysresort.com/) and had a great lunch with Ted, Luann, and Taylor (my uncle, aunt, and cousin) in Ted and Lu's new camper. My wonderful cousin/photographer took some pictures of the boys on the river and near a running water-wheel. I can't wait to see the pictures, I know they are going to be beautiful! (I will be sure and share the pictures as soon as I can!) The kids spent part of the afternoon swimming at the resort's pool. They had a lot of fun! I don't have any pictures to share of the day! My camera was full of other photos and videos! We all had a great time, though.
That's basically our trip in a scaled down version. We had a great time. It was sad to leave today, but we are grateful for the time that we were able to spend with my parents and family. We are also very grateful and thankful for the safe trip!
This is all for now! It is 11:36, and I've been working on this for way too long! The screen is becoming blurry, so I am sure that is a sign that I need to go to BED! :)
Post again soon,
~jen
